good morning!

make me up.
Either Blogger is just completely out of whack or I've become dull. Where are you, friends? I think I may decide to make the intimidating move over to typepad. *gasp* We'll see. So, last night I couldn't sleep so I decide to do my makeup. Haha... the two don't usually go hand in hand but it's been too long since I've worn the fun stuff... or taken a self portrait. The beautiful flowers were photographed at the school we stayed at for artFIBERfest in Washington.

In October I'm going to a gala called the Diamonds + Pearl Ball for a charity organization my employers chair for. After seeing the Emmy's I'm dying for a purple dress but we'll see. The theme is 1940's Hollywood and I'm having a hard time with it! It seems that wasn't the richest time in this country and even Hollywood wasn't terribly glam in my opinion. I did find one cute dress but I'm not sure it'd be dressy enough. If I'm unable to find "the dream" dress then I can always dress it up a bit with accessories and fancy hair. I feel like I should get help with this! Any ideas?

You look so cute all dolled up!!! What a fun event to be going to. I wish I could offer some fashion advice but I really suck in that department. Looking forward to seeing what you choose.

Your eye makeup is so much fun! Wish I had some tips for your ball..I think tons of different long layered pearls would be fun...it is a "Diamond & Pearl" ball right!

Joleen, I think a lot of people are still here visiting your blog. I enjoy your blog on a regular basis but haven't left comments up to now. I do love your self-portraits. You're so creative with the camera. I also love your use of color. You have a distinct style and I enjoy it! Warm smiles, Julie

We're around :)
The Cosutumer's Manifesto is a great resource for looking up era clothing. Including these wartime guidelines for clothing. I'm sending you a link for one I found for sale. How fun!

do it. do it! abandon blogger for typepad. or, look into wordpress. you probably have more customization options with typepad, but wordpress is still better than blogger.

Timely reading: I had enough of blogger and its' problems this week and switched over to Typepad on Monday. It took two days to pretty much design the new one, and transfer the data (you CAN transfer your old posts from blogger!), but I'm so much happier and I love the new interface. It's so simple and clean! Anyone who can walk me through putting a banner on my blog can do this Joleen! It was intimidating, but worth it.

BTW - the purple is awesome!

Joleen- I always check your blog although this is the first time I've commented. I think that your personality really comes through in your posts and pictures and it always brightens my day. Thanks :) For the ball you should try those finger waves for your hair and of course bright red lipstick, so fun.

I love the eye shadow, my mom just gave me a bunch yesterday, I really don't know how to put it on so it looks alright, but maybe just experimenting a little. I'm always at your blog sometimes more than once a day, I always love your photos and seeing what you are up to, I'll make more comments, I know they mean a lot when I have comments, they are so encouraging.
