Fab Mail Day

Fab Mail!

What a great mail day! It's always fun to come home from work to a bunch of great, fun, and fabulous goodies.

The handspun yarn I purchased from Heidi / My Paper Crane came and it's even better in person than I expected it to be! (Which is saying a lot because I thought it would be stupendous!) :D I am going to have to make something special for myself! :D

I also recieved a BEAUTIFUL hand felted wool flower broach today from Keina / Meukin. Thank you *so* much! I absolutely love it and I can't wait to show it off!!

Thank you to Heather B. for sending the fun goodies along with your ATC trades. :D She sent me two beautiful hankies and a fabric piece along with a card. Thank you so much!

All of those fun fabric pieces came from my 'boss' today! :D She's an interior designer and brought me some samples to use for my crafts! :D They're super fun and I can't wait to use them!

Thanks again to everyone! This truly brightened my day. :D

PS- Sorry the picture is so dark. Bad lighting.

Pin Cushion Phenomenon

Boy, have I been having fun a aquiring vintage and modern, fun and fabulous, fabrics these last few days! I took a very successful trip to Goodwill this morning. I found an awesome blazer for myself and a skirt for my sister. :D I also found some great fabrics in old pillow cases and women's wear. I found a beautifully handmade top that's way to small for me but was too cute to pass up. So, I will add it to my store when it's up and running. :) The BEST find today was (1965) The Woman's Day Book of Soft Toys & Dolls by Joan Russell.

This is the adorable image on the cover of the book when the cover jacket is off. Isn't it cute? :D

Last night I started cutting out fabric and felt to make cute pin cushions. Today I decided I was also going to make a series of owls, birds, and kitty pin cushions. :D Below is the cut out fabric of my first owl before being adhered and sewn together. They slid a bit since they're not attached but you get the idea. :D

goodies buttons and birdies hod podge peach

It's been such a fun shopping week for me! :D These are some of my favorite goodies. I bought the beautiful, fun & funky, fabtabulous handspun yarns today from My Paper Crane. (Thanks, Heidi!). The other two yarns (pictured at the top) were fun yarns I found at Michael's. They're all that's left after making a funky scarf! :) The ribbons were found on my way out of the store in the $1 bin! :) Aren't they fun?? The beads were in the clearance section. (Don't know what they're for yet. hehe) And, the cute little pink birdies were in their new Easter section. Aren't those ceramic birdies sweet? :) Believe it or not that's from Michael's too! I think it's so cute! We're actually using it to hold our rings on the bar above the sink in our kitchen. Now, how fun are those buttons?! That's only a small portion of awesome vintage buttons I bought in random bags! (They're there for the picture only). Lastly, the fabric was all found at Ikea of all places. :D You can buy fabric by the yard there. A few of them are from that, two from pillow cases I intend to use otherwise, and a few from their "as is" section! Those were the best deals! :)

Today, Alex, and I went to Target for plastic storage drawers! Those babies are not cheap! We ended up getting 6 of these for all of my craftilicous supplies. We're not using the wheels so if you think you can use 'em and you want 'em, let me know. :) We think this will work better than our living room floor. Haha! We found a work desk today at Ikea that we'll get soon. We want everything to get organized before we try bring anything else that big in here. I am interested in purchasing a label maker and have been trying to scope things out on ebay. Any suggestions?

"First Flight"

A birdie's first flight for Illustration Friday. This week's theme: "Flight". Watercolor and Sharpie outlines on 5"x7" Watercolor Paper.

ramblings

It seems to me that the more there is to do, the less hours in a day there are. I feel so swamped right now with projects. I just want to wipe the slate clean and do what I want to do, now. :) Don't you love over commiting yourself? I obviously must and it drives my husband crazy. Tomorrow I have the day off of work but definitely am not lacking things to do. Tomorrow I get to play catch up. I have two pages of addresses to send goodies too-from trades and swaps. No more swaps for a while. Trades are one thing.. at least those projects are completed before deciding to trade. I just don't want to commit to so much that it's no longer fun. That means having to take a hiatis and those are just no fun. :)

Tomorrow I get to go to Michaels for some art goodies. :D I am being commissioned to do two paintings and will pick up the canvas and paint. I also got a gift certificate for Valentine's Day so of course I have to check things out. :) The other thing I need to check for is yarn. I have plenty now but would like to get some new colors. I want to get some from here but she's always sold out by the time I check. Hmm. I need to finish a scarf I made for my mom for Christmas. How sad that it's taken so long for me to get to it. (Sorry, Mom!) I think it's probably long enough but I wanted to add another color to it. Good thing she'll still have a little bit of colder weather to wear it! I got a knitting beginners kit for Christmas from my sister, Aimee, and haven't had time for that either. I REALLY want to learn to knit! That's going to be my next thing. I just need to get some of these other projects out of the way.

Katey from Haha Web Design is going to be working on a website for me very soon. I am so excited about this! I have been wanting a web store for a while now and I think it's going to be great. It's going to take time, though, but I am being patient. (Who me?) :) I need to work on product if I am going to sell it! Haha! More about all this madness another time.

It's been a long day and tomorrow will be another. I'm off to bed. Goodnight, friends.

I was asked to work for a few hours today and Alex came with me. We decided to take the PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy) home and stopped off to take a couple of pictures. It's rainy today but isn't this beautiful?

cluck?

year of the rooster 001

This week's Illustration Friday theme is: Year of the Rooster.
I think I consider this unfinished. It sort of looks more like a hen then a rooster at this point. And, hmm.. wonder why I wrote "cluck" when they say "cocka doodle doo". ;)
