{who are you?!} psst...a contest

self portrait challenge
this is my introduction to self portrait challenge. for those visiting for the first time- i'm joleen, age 23, married two years to my hubby, alex. we're located in southern california and share a home with our turtle, dude. i spend my weekdays working full time as a nanny + creating whenever possible. my favorite pastime is reading. i do self portraits because it greatly challenges me and will help me to document my personal history.

so now i'd like to meet you! tell me your name and where you're from.. and whatever else you'd like to share by wed. at noon. your comment will enter you in to my next contest to win this birdy woodblock painting (approx. 2.5" x 5") made by moi. the sides are painted too. i look forward to getting to know you + good luck! xo

note- even if you've commented a million times, please speak up! :) i'd like to get an idea of the demographics of who reads. thanks!

Hi,

My name is Teresa, I am a 41 year old Mom, Wife, Gramma. I love the Gramma part a Lot! I grew up in Southern California, but have been in Oregon for 12+ years. I just got my real estate license and am starting a new career at 40+ lol, must be my 2nd mid life crisis! First one was when my son moved out. I was a teen mom, so I felt like I had been a mom my whole life and was a little lost when he grew up. But now he has blessed me with Lilee Mae (3) and I just adore her and being her Gramma.

I love your site because you are so creative and open with your feelings and in my mind that makes you really really Brave! Life is hard and being able to talk about it makes our lives better and knowing you are not alone is good too. Life is good too and you share that also and I am sure you give others hope.

I wish you all the best and keep up the good work!

Hi Joleen:) Always looking for new projects, right?
I'm Sara, 23 from Portugal. I'm a christian, an unemployed primary teacher and always looking for ways to have my hands busy. I love creating and putting a bit of myself in every piece. I've been feeling a bit down and frustraded lately... still living with my parents, when what I'd like was to be married with my honey and have my own home. I dream of embracing a project that has impact in society...

I think I'm going to have a self-portrait week on my blog... inspired by you. I'm sure my net friends would appreciate it a lot. I know I appreciate it a lot, when I see photos of my net friends - which doesn't happen often. :-( Maybe they'll get inspired too :-)
